Dear Dancers,

I've gathered my staff for next summer's dance camp.

The camp will last one day longer--Saturday night August 12 through Saturday morning August 19--and I do plan to do "something unusual" midweek.

Something unusual means that dance workshops will be available, but they will not be a part of the week long series of workshops. You can "miss" that day and not fall behind in any class. I still have not decided exactly what I will do.

I have also hired a "food advisor"--Sheila Diamond--who has been head cook at several Michigan Dance Heritage weekends. She will advise the cafeteria about vegetarian food--and about the kind of food dancers need. I am also paying a higher price to food service for better quality food.

I have tried hard to hire people that will equal last year's dynamic staff. I think I have succeeded. Wonderful Wild Asparagus is coming back--I think they liked us!

Cathy Stevens from Canada is a terrific teacher of Tango & Vintage who has been on Staff at Cincinnati's Flying Cloud Academy. Surely BLT needs no introduction from me--Peter Barnes, Mary Lea and Bill Tomczak are some of the best musicians around.

Philippe Callens, from Belgium, has a world-wide reputation for English and for Contra. He has written many dances too. Following the withdrawal of Jonathan Cohen due to work committments, I have managed to persuade Balshazzar's Feast to join us again from England. Those who came last year will remember their dexterity and flexibility in tune arrangements. Be prepared for the unpredictable from this superb two-piece.

Fred Park is a genius and it is he who insisted I hire The Bluebird Special- (Bob Lucas, Al White, Raiford & Sadie Faircloth) --a group that sings as well as plays instruments. So we intend to include singing in the week as well.

I'm getting excited just telling you about next summer. Once again there will be concerts, and a Caller's Workshop (Fred Park & George Marshall running it jointly), Mykl Werth will teach Waltz and we have a great teacher from England for the Irish Set dancing - Joseph O'Hara. Janet O'Hara will teach English Clog and Jacqui Morgenstein will teach some Irish Step dancing.

I do hope I'll see some of you this coming summer. You made last summer's camp a huge success.

Love,  Henry.
